ESTATE, MOVING AND “DOWNSIZING” SERVICES
The sale of the contents of a home is conducted with sensitivity to the client’s circumstance and their specific needs. We take our role as stewards seriously and provide and orderly means to liquidate most property. As an appraiser, not an antique dealer, having no conflict of interest, Rachel T. Wescott & Associates, Inc. develops a sales program which maximizes the value realized. Properties we have sold for clients include: period American and English furniture and silver, art collections, libraries, toys, Oriental carpets, fine and costume jewelry, coins, cars, motor homes as well as the usual items found in any and every household.
Sale preparation includes sorting, categorizing and pricing ALL property. To maximize sale results and reach the most appropriate buyers, we use a targeted advertising approach, with an emphasis on individual collectors and dealers. At the conclusion of a sale, the client receives a report documenting all sales activity and income. We leave the residence empty and neat.

WHAT IS A PERSONAL PROPERTY APPRAISAL?
A professionally prepared appraisal makes convincing argument for the value of an object by clearly describing it, examining its inherent quality and condition, identifying its attributes of value, ranking it among other similar objects, determining where similar things are bought and sold and by analyzing the appropriate market.
A Professional Appraisal Is:
Unbiased – The appraiser has no interest or potential interest in the property valued.
Independent – The desires, wishes or needs of the client cannot affect the estimation of value.
There are important National Standards known as the Uniform Standards of Professional Practice, promulgated by the Appraisal Foundation which is recognized by the United States Government as the authority for the development of appraisal standards and qualifications. These standards govern ethics, competency, method and reporting, set up a national standard to which all appraisers can be held.
Your furniture, artwork, carpets, decorative objects, collectibles, cars, toys, everything you own has value.
When you stop to think what you paid over a lifetime to accumulate the things around you, you will quickly see what a large investment you have made. What these things are worth becomes an important question in many circumstances, and finding out can give you peace of mind as you manage these assets and make decisions in your life, for yourself and for those you love.
An appraisal is the considered opinion of an expert, someone trained and experienced in what gives personal property value. You are accustomed to seeking the advice of your lawyer, accountant, trust officer, insurer, financial advisor and other experts. What many people overlook is the risk of treating their personal property as though it had no value, “It’s just all this stuff I’ve accumulated.” That can be a costly attitude.
By working with Rachel Wescott & Associates you will be able to make informed decisions about estate planning, insurance, purchase or sale of items, with the knowledge that what you plan for now will save you headache and heartache in the future. If trouble arises we will be ready and able to help.
